Functions of RTO Pune:
RTO Pune performs various transportation-related services that help to keep the city smoothly flowing. The list of functions is mentioned below:
• Issuance and renewal of drivers' licences and learners' licences
• Issuance of Registration certificates of vehicles
• Approving International Driver's Licence
• Issuance of NOC, PUC certificate
• Collecting road tax and fines
• Promoting road safety and pollution care.
Types of vehicle registration in RTO Pune
Pune RTO offers two types of vehicle registration services. They are-
• Temporary registration:
This is issued by the car dealer at the time of car purchase and is only valid for seven days. The validity of the temporary registration certificate can be extended to one month at the most, after which a permanent registration certificate would be necessary to legally drive the car.
• Permanent registration:
The temporary registration certificate needs to be registered at the RTO office of Pune along with other necessary documents to validate your car purchase. As proof, a permanent registration certificate is issued to the owner.
Types of driving licences issued in RTO Pune:
RTO Pune is responsible for issuing various types of driving licences. They are categorised below.
• Motorcycles with gear (MCWG):
This licence allows the driver to ride any motorcycle that has gears like scooters and bikes.
• Motorcycles without gear (MCWOG):
This licence is issued for vehicles without gear like mopeds and scooters without gears.
• Motorcycles with 50 cc or lesser engine capacity:
The person must be at least 16 years old to apply for this licence. It is the most basic driver's licence and requires the submission of the necessary documentation. Applicants under 18 years need to submit their parent's or guardian's approval as well.
• LMV licence:
It is issued to drive Light Motor Vehicles like jeeps, vans, cars, etc.
• Licence for Medium or Heavy Motor Vehicles:
In order to drive heavy motor vehicles like trucks, cranes, etc., this licence is necessary.
