Navigating the Legalities: Your Essential Guide to Car Registration Certificate (RC) Renewal

When you purchase a new vehicle, there are certain documents that you must have to fulfill legalities and safety. Among these are car insurance, driver's license, and most importantly, the registration certificate, RC, of the vehicle. As per the Motors Act of 1988, all vehicles must be registered with the government by paying the road tax. Upon doing so, you are provided with the RC card. It has details of the vehicle and the owner.

The registration certificate of your vehicle has to be renewed before expiry to keep up with the legal formalities. Read on to learn more about car RC renewal.

How can you renew your car RC? Steps to be followed

RC of the car has to be done every 15 years. Before the registration certificate expires, you must get it renewed. Here is the process for car RC renewal:

  1. Online process

    • Visit the official website of Parivahan Sewa

    • Click on vehicle-related services

    • Select your state and nearest RTO to proceed

    • From the options available under RC-related services, choose Renewal of Registration
